Stop killing your amazing plants with big-store "cactus potting soil". This soil is made with houseplants in mind more than cacti and succulents and does not dry fast enough, or provide enough oxygen to sensitive root systems. Inorganic potting soil dramatically reduces the chances of rot and other mold and fungus-related diseases because it does not provide the hospitable environment for bad fungus to grow, that potting mixes high in organic content can create. Replace organic material with half-strength cactus fertilizer once a year, on the second watering of the year and that's it.
